Deep Dish Dungeon hammer: Demo Sewer Route
Find the Deep Dish Dungeon hammer in the demo sewers. Confirmed water and pipe steps, v1013 caveats, and which hammer facts are still unknown.
The Deep Dish Dungeon hammer is easy to see and hard to collect. In the free demo, players walk the sewers, spot the hammer behind bars, and then find that the barred side is not the entrance. The Deep Dish Dungeon hammer matters because Behold Studios built this first-person game as a survival metroidvania: crafted tools open routes, and a tool you can see but not reach is worth solving.
This page sticks to what the demo record and player reports actually support. It does not invent a crafting recipe, a damage number, or a door the hammer is “supposed” to break. Where a step was never published, it is marked HOLD.
Deep Dish Dungeon, from Behold Studios and Raw Fury, is a first-person survival crawler set in one connected underground space. There is no in-game map or compass. Cooking and made tools change what an expedition can do. The free Windows demo launched on Steam on February 19, 2026, with no time limit. The full game was announced for October 13, 2026, on Steam and Xbox, including day-one Game Pass, at $14.99. Demo saves do not transfer.
The store listing for the game is on the Deep Dish Dungeon page on Steam.
What is confirmed about the hammer
A demo item index matched Steam build 23,712,006 to demo version v1013. That index covers items, recipes, enemies, and sources for that build. It also says room maps and a full current route were still open. Treat the hammer notes below as a partial field report, not a finished wiki entry.

| Claim | Status | What the sources actually say |
|---|---|---|
| Hammer is visible in the sewers behind bars | Player experience | A March Steam thread describes seeing it from the barred side and not finding the way in |
| Pickup uses raised water, a swim, and ceiling pipes | Community reports, possibly stale | One reply gives those three beats, then stops on purpose |
| Exact switch, room name, and post-pipe path | HOLD | Not described |
| Recipe, stats, durability, or upgrade | HOLD | Not in this source set |
| What obstacle the hammer opens | HOLD | Tool-gated paths exist in the game; this hammer’s target is not named |
| “Red-bar” tied to the hammer | HOLD | A demo-ending blurb lists hammer and red-bar advice together and never defines red-bar |
| Required for the Prison Key door | HOLD | Same blurb mentions both; it does not say one unlocks the other |
| Route checked on v1013 | HOLD | March notes predate the June 2026 demo update and the v1013 warning about old steps |
Official screenshots show other gear, not this pickup: a sword with an iron shield, a grappling hook aimed at a high ledge, and a camp with a cooking pot, campfire, workbench, chest, and crafting stations. Do not assume those tools are prerequisites for the hammer. Nothing in the reports says they are.
Sewer route from community reports
On March 8, 2026, a player wrote that they had been moving through the sewer system, could see the hammer behind bars, and could not enter that room. On March 10, another player answered with a partial route and explicitly refused to finish it. That is the only concrete Deep Dish Dungeon hammer path in this material. Label it community reports, not a developer walkthrough.
Read the dates before you follow it. The demo received a June 2026 update. A later demo database warned that some route steps predate v1013. A March hint can still be true, and it can also be a leftover from an earlier build. Test it. Do not treat a failure as proof the hammer moved until you have checked the water state yourself.
Steps that were actually described
| Step | Action | If it fails |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Stay in the sewer system until you can see the hammer behind bars. That view is the landmark, not the door. | If you cannot see the bars, you are not at the reported vantage point. HOLD on any other spawn. |
| 2 | Find where sewer water can be raised and lowered. The reply says levels change. It does not name a valve, wheel, or lever. | HOLD on the control’s name and room. Search for a change in water height, not a labeled “hammer switch.” |
| 3 | Set the water high for the crossing you need. | Low water is the reported miss. The reply says you want it raised so you can swim. |
| 4 | Swim a tunnel to a ledge on the opposite end. | If you cannot reach that far ledge, the level is likely still too low, or you are in a different tunnel. |
| 5 | From that side, climb onto the pipes that line the ceiling. | The report ends at the climb. It does not say the hammer is sitting on the pipes. |
| 6 | Continue past the pipes toward the barred room. | HOLD. The poster stopped here on purpose. |
The original problem and the reply line up. People get stuck because they try to solve the bars from the side where the hammer is already visible. The reported entrance is a water route that puts you on the ceiling pipes, which implies the pickup volume is reached from above or from the far side of that tunnel, not by attacking the bars.
After step 5, stop trusting the thread. Climbing the pipes is the last published action. Any drop, crawl, second valve, or bar you break from the inside would be a guess. Mark that stretch HOLD and scout in short loops so you can return to the ledge.
How to test the lead without getting lost
There is no compass. The dungeon is one vertical, hand-built space that relies on landmarks, light, shortcuts, and vertical links. Use that on purpose while you test the water route.
- Note the last distinct room before the bars: shelf shape, water sound, pipe direction, or a light color.
- Change the water once, then walk back to the bars and see whether the view changed. You are confirming that this control affects this tunnel.
- Swim only after you can point back to the ledge you started from.
- When you reach the ceiling pipes, look down for the bars before you commit to a drop you cannot reverse.
- If the layout does not match “tunnel, far ledge, ceiling pipes,” leave. You may be in a different sewer loop, or the June update may have moved the set piece.
Death, quitting, and session rejoin are not documented for this puzzle. HOLD on whether the water stays raised. After a reload, check the level again before you assume the route broke.
Version caveats that change the route
Demo-ending coverage is thinner than a full walkthrough. A July 2, 2026 playthrough is reported to reach a thank-you screen. A separate July report places that ending past a Prison Key door, but the exact build and the full v1013 trigger path are not shown. Hammer advice is mentioned in that same ending cluster, next to red-bar notes, with a warning that some steps are older than v1013.
| Fact | Date or build | What you should do with it |
|---|---|---|
| Demo launch, Windows only, no time limit | February 19, 2026 | You can retry the sewer without a demo timer |
| Community hammer reply | March 10, 2026 | Use as a lead only |
| June 2026 demo update | June 2026 | Contents of the patch are HOLD in this packet; re-check geometry |
| Thank-you screen seen | July 2, 2026 playthrough | Proves an endpoint existed; does not map the hammer |
| Prison Key report | July 2026, build not shown | Do not assume the hammer is the key requirement |
| Item data matched to v1013 | Steam build 23,712,006 | Prefer this build if your client still shows it |
| Full release announced | October 13, 2026 | No full-game hammer entry is in these sources |
| Demo save transfer | Studio statement | Will not carry into the full game |
Two platform notes matter if you are comparing videos to your own client. The demo listing is Windows-only. The full game’s Steam listing includes Windows and macOS. Steam Deck Verified was announced on September 30, 2026. A clip recorded on a different build can show a pipe run your demo no longer has.
Price context, if you are deciding whether to keep learning the demo route: Behold Studios named $14.99, €14.99, or £13.99 on October 6, 2026. That price does not change the sewer steps. It does tell you the demo hammer is practice on a save that will be discarded.
Where the hammer sits among other tools
Crafting is how this dungeon opens. Camp upgrades matter to exploration, and cooking can change stats or grant an ability for a run. Those are official system descriptions. They are not a hammer shopping list. No dish, ingredient, or workbench cost in this packet is tied to the Deep Dish Dungeon hammer.
| Tool or station | Evidence level | Relation to the hammer |
|---|---|---|
| Workbench, chest, campfire, cooking pot | Official camp screenshot | General crafting and cooking. No hammer recipe published here |
| Sword and iron shield | Official combat screenshot | Separate weapon set. Not cited in the sewer reply |
| Grappling hook | Official screenshot in a tall chamber | A different vertical tool. Not cited for the bars or the pipes |
| Torch | Key art | Light source in a mapless dungeon. Not a hammer requirement |
| Hammer | Player sighting plus one partial route | Location lead only. Use, recipe, and gated obstacle are HOLD |
| Prison Key | July community/demo-ending reports | Ending-route item. Link to the hammer is HOLD |
| Red-bar | Named only inside a demo-ending blurb | Meaning HOLD. Do not build a strat around an undefined bar |
Use camp as a reset, not as a crafting myth. Cook if you need a documented expedition buff for a long sewer loop, then go test the water. If a guide tells you to brew a specific meal before the hammer will spawn, that claim is not supported here.
Co-op is part of the game’s feature set, including online play, Xbox Play Anywhere mentions, and session rejoin. The published player count is inconsistent across official notes, so a number is HOLD. Nothing says a second player can grab the hammer from the barred side while you swim. Plan the route as a solo water puzzle unless you verify otherwise in your own session.
Checklist and pitfalls
Run this like a scout, not like a boss kill. You are confirming a community lead on a build that may have changed.
- Confirm you are in the demo sewer and can see the hammer behind bars.
- Look for a control that raises and lowers water. Do not skip ahead to the pipes.
- Raise the water, then swim to the far ledge of that tunnel.
- Climb the ceiling pipes. Stop and compare what you see with the barred room.
- If the next gap is not obvious, mark it HOLD and backtrack by landmarks.
- Write down whether a reload keeps the water high. That fact is not published.
- Ignore any stat block, repair cost, or “breaks the red wall” tip until you see it in your build. Those details are HOLD.
| Pitfall | Why it happens | What to do instead |
|---|---|---|
| Attacking or unlocking the bars from the viewing side | That is the side the March player was already on | Leave that doorway and search for the water control |
| Swimming with the water down | The reply requires the raised level to reach the far ledge | Raise first, then cross |
| Expecting the thread to finish the route | The author stopped after the ceiling pipes | Scout past that point yourself; do not invent the rest from videos you cannot version-match |
| Following a pre-v1013 video | The demo index says some steps are older than v1013 | Match landmarks to your build, especially after June 2026 |
| Grinding camp recipes for a hammer craft | No such recipe is in the current source set | Cook only for a buff you already understand |
| Treating Prison Key or red-bar notes as hammer instructions | They share a topic blurb, not a demonstrated chain | Keep those as separate HOLD items |
| Spending the demo save as if it were the full game | Studio says the demo file will not transfer | Learn the sewer; do not expect the pickup to persist at launch |
If your client no longer shows build 23,712,006 or version v1013, the tables above are historical. The barred sewer sighting can still be your check. Either the raised-water swim still reaches the pipes, or it does not. Both results are useful. A mismatch means the March route is outdated, not that you failed a hidden input.
FAQ
Where is the Deep Dish Dungeon hammer in the demo?
Player experience places it in the sewer system, visible behind bars. Community reports say you do not enter through those bars. Raise the water, swim to a ledge at the far end of a tunnel, and climb the pipes along the ceiling. The path after those pipes was deliberately left unpublished.
Does the hammer require a recipe or a cooked buff?
No recipe or dish is linked to it in the available demo notes. Camp crafting and cooking are real progression systems, but tying a specific meal or material list to this pickup would be speculation. That craft data is HOLD.
Is the March water route valid on demo v1013?
Not confirmed. The reply is from March 2026. The demo was updated in June 2026, and route notes for v1013 (Steam build 23,712,006) say some steps are older than that version. Use the water, swim, and pipe sequence as a test, then trust your own landmarks.
Does the hammer open the Prison Key door or a red-bar obstacle?
Unknown. Demo-ending writeups mention a Prison Key route, hammer advice, and red-bar advice in the same breath, and they do not define red-bar or prove a dependency. A July 2, 2026 playthrough reached a thank-you screen; a separate July report put the ending beyond the Prison Key door without showing the full v1013 path. Keep those links HOLD until a version-matched source shows the interaction.
