Deep Dish Dungeon table puzzle Craft Guide
Demo steps for the Deep Dish Dungeon table puzzle: crate reach, iron-rod crafts, smelter keys, and the sewer hammer path.
What the demo actually calls a table puzzle
The Deep Dish Dungeon table puzzle is not a labeled quest in the public demo notes. It is the early physics reach plus the camp crafting table that the reach unlocks. Clearing the Deep Dish Dungeon table puzzle matters because the first door, the key, and almost every later tool sit behind food, a crate stack, and a tiny iron-rod budget.

Sources never publish a room name, crate count, or diagram for that stack. Treat any “exact stack” you see elsewhere as HOLD until you confirm it in your own session. What is documented is the order of gates and the items that do not exist yet.
This page uses a creator playthrough and Steam community reports from players who finished the demo. It does not invent mold lists, valve orders, or hunger timers. Wishlist and demo status live on the Deep Dish Dungeon Steam store page.

Early route: food, crates, then the workbench
There is no tutorial. Player experience describes a short forced lesson instead: you spawn with six inventory slots and must scavenge before the dungeon lets you through.
- Pick up sticks, mushrooms, apples, and a torch. Apples are the only food community reports say you can eat raw.
- Eat and drink when the first main door blocks you. The creator read this as a pseudo-tutorial. Steam’s own line, paraphrased by that playthrough, is that food is progress.
- Get past the skeleton in that opening stretch. Combat in that session felt light, and mobs did not drop loot. Do not plan on skeleton bones as a crafting mat.
- Solve the small reach puzzle by using crates to get the key. Planks show up as the same kind of physics prop deeper in. Stack slowly. Props can tumble.
- Use the key to open the base camp. Player experience lists a chest, a sleeping bag that sets your spawn, a bonfire, and a workbench.
Exact handholds on the crate stack are HOLD. If a crate slides off, reset the stack rather than hunting a second key. Nothing in the sources says the key respawns.
Camp is the safe loop: explore, haul mats back, unlock recipes, then push the next physics or valve check. Darkness is total without a torch, so one player often holds light while another holds a weapon. That split is player experience, not a required class system.
A pouch recipe adds three slots (six becomes nine). Community reports put Pouch on the iron-rod list below, so the extra slots are real but not free.
Crafting table locks and the three iron rods
After camp, the Deep Dish Dungeon table puzzle becomes a budget problem. Community reports say iron rods cannot be generated. You only get the three you start with, plus a cooking pot already sitting by the campfire. Spending a rod on the wrong recipe locks you out of another.
The same reports list crafts you cannot make from ordinary drops unless a starting iron rod goes into them:
| Recipe (community report) | Why it stalls | Practical note |
|---|---|---|
| Pouch | Rod-gated | +3 slots; high priority if you are full |
| Hammer | Rod-gated and also found | See sewer path before you spend a rod |
| Grappling Hook | Rod-gated | Seen as a recipe in a creator session |
| Wooden Bow | Rod-gated | Arrows were not retrievable in that session |
| Scrap Cape, Crude Leather Armor | Rod-gated | Leather itself cannot be generated |
| Medium Sword, Long Sword | Rod-gated | Later upgrades use other mats |
| Smelter, Workbench, Wood Chest | Rod-gated | Camp already has a workbench |
| Kettle, Water Pot, Barricade, Wooden Bridge | Rod-gated | No demo use-case fully documented here |
| Backpack | Rod-gated | Not a free extra bag in this demo |
| Nail | Rod-gated | Uses conflict; see below |
| Grindstone | Rod-gated and not obtainable | Further weapon tiers are HOLD |
Gatherable mats from that community write-up: stick, rock, wood plank, rat, scrap metal, vines, coal, animal hide, apple, raw meat, mushroom, wild pepper, algae.
Explicitly not generatable in that report: clay, iron rod, leather, chains, ragged cloth, log. Clay recipes and any “make leather from hide” chain are HOLD. Do not farm for them.
Nail is the one direct conflict. One community report said the nail had no use. A follow-up said you can hammer a nail into the wall and pair it with rope for an out-of-reach sewer ladder, with other ways up that do not need the nail. If rods are scarce, skip the nail until you are actually looking at that ladder.
Smelter keys, molds, and the upgrade bench
Player experience of the key forge is physical, not a menu click. Load a smelter with scrap metal and coal, set a mold in front, and pull the lever so the hot metal drops into the mold. That is how locked-door keys were made in the creator session.
Community reports add that several molds exist and are worth hauling back. A full mold-to-item chart is HOLD. Do not assume every mold is a key.
Near the end of the demo, the same reports describe a weapon upgrade that spends scrap metal and wood planks. Anything past that asks for a grindstone, which those players could not obtain. Stop at the plank-and-scrap tier.
A separate end-route note: a large bat guards the outside of the forge room. You bring an iron key there to get a prison key. That is a community report, not a frame-by-frame route. Patrol timing and the safe torch spot are HOLD.
Optional finds from that same write-up, if you want them after the key path:
- Gold bracelet: place a wall torch in the room with two skeletons after the small-key door.
- Gold coins: in the rafters of the main campfire room.
- Carranca statue: picked up, function unknown. HOLD.
Sewers, the hammer, and the valve puzzle
The hammer is the demo’s other hard craft-or-find check, and it blocks metal bars. Community reports put the found hammer in the sewers after you pull the handcrank in the room that has a workbench. Swimming is required, and it is easy to miss because wading looks unsafe.
| Obstacle | Tool that works | What fails |
|---|---|---|
| Metal bars | Hammer | Fists, and any tool not listed |
| Spider web (one breakable web) | Torch | Hammer is not the cited tool |
| Goo pile, rock pile | None in demo | Listed as not breakable |
| Roots | None in demo | Follow-up report: cannot break yet |
| Raised sewer water | Swim | Moray eel only while water is up |
| Out-of-reach sewer ladder | Nail + rope, or another route | Nail is optional |
Valve work is a different puzzle from the crates. Player experience: valves sit in separate rooms and must be turned in coordination so someone else can cross. The on/off order is HOLD. In co-op, proximity chat fades with distance. The camp intercom broadcasts across the dungeon, which is the practical way to call a valve state without walking back.
Enemies tied to these rooms, per community reports:
- Skeletons: spread through the dungeon.
- Scorpions: a hallway off the main room that drops steeply.
- Moray eel: sewers only, and only while you are swimming in raised water.
- Large bat: one spawn, outside the forge tied to the iron key and prison key.
Food still runs during these trips. Hunger drains fast in the creator session; starving costs health. Cook before a sewer swim so you are not eating in the dark.
| Meal | Inputs (community reports) | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Raw apple | Apple | Only raw food cited |
| Roasted foods | Most foods on a rotisserie | Roasted variant of that food |
| Veggies | Wild pepper, mushrooms, apple | Cooking pot |
| Stew | Those three plus raw meat | Cooking pot |
| Mushroom fish stew | Butchered fish; two pieces cited | Follow-up report |
| Drumstick stew | Butchered large bat; two pieces cited | Follow-up report |
Raw meat comes from rat traps or from grabbing rats before they hide under debris. The creator saw zero drops on a kill. A later community report still says fish and the bat can be butchered. Trust butchering only when the prompt appears. Do not expect apples or bones from skeletons.
Co-op habits that keep physics puzzles standing
Co-op does not remove the Deep Dish Dungeon table puzzle. It changes who holds the torch and who talks on the intercom. Voices fall off down a hall, so a player on a distant valve can sound gone even when they are fine. Step back to camp and use the intercom before you assume a disconnect.
Keep one person on light during crate or plank moves. A dropped torch is a black room and a fallen stack. The creator’s session had no major crashes, but combat AI sometimes delayed or appeared with no audio cue. Clear the skeleton or scorpion before you start a tall stack.
Ropes, bows, capes, and grappling hooks showed up as recipes in that playthrough. Ingredient lists beyond the iron-rod gate are HOLD. Arrows fired in that session could not be picked up, so a bow is a poor tool if rods and ammo are both tight.
FAQ
What is the Deep Dish Dungeon table puzzle?
It is the demo’s crate-and-plank reach to the first key, followed by the camp workbench and the three-iron-rod craft lock. No source names a single prop called a puzzle table or prints the stack order. Crate count and camera alignment stay HOLD.
Do I need a hammer before I can leave camp?
No. Camp opens after the early key. The hammer comes later, either by spending a starting iron rod or by swimming the sewers after the handcrank in the workbench room. Metal bars wait on that hammer. The single cited spider web breaks with a torch instead.
Which foods are safe when the pot is far away?
Only apples are confirmed edible raw. Everything else in these reports wants a rotisserie or the camp cooking pot. Cook veggies or meat stew before valve rooms and sewer swims. Mushroom-fish and drumstick stews need butchered fish or the large bat, and a follow-up report says to put two of those pieces in the pot.
Can I craft clay tools, a grindstone, or a fourth-player lobby?
Clay, leather, chains, ragged cloth, and logs cannot be generated in the community item list, so clay gear is HOLD. The grindstone is listed as not actually available, which caps weapon upgrades at scrap metal and wood planks. A fourth player was asked about on Steam and is not confirmed here. The creator described an up-to-three-player demo with no release date attached.
